About this opportunity
The North Carolina Department of Transportation, Highway Division 7, is requesting sealed bids for mowing services on residual properties within NCDOT right-of-way across Alamance, Caswell, Guilford, Orange, and Rockingham Counties under Contract MG00532, with bids due October 1, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. at the Division 7 office in Greensboro. This is a Small Business Enterprise (SBE) ID/IQ multi-year maintenance contract with a one-year base term capped at $1,000,000 and potential extension up to three years total, each year capped at $1,000,000.
The scope requires the contractor to furnish all equipment, tools, materials, transportation, and labor to mow state-owned residual properties to approximately two inches in height, with vegetation cut no more than twice per month. The mowing season runs generally from April 1 through October 31. Work commences October 28, 2026 and concludes October 27, 2027. Currently no properties are identified for mowing in Caswell or Orange Counties, though bidders must provide unit pricing for all five counties for responsiveness.
Compensation is based on unit prices per square foot for mowing services in each county, with monthly payments for work accomplished and accepted. The contract may be extended for two additional one-year periods at the Department's option, with a 3% price escalation permitted upon renewal. No general contractor's license, bid bond, or performance and payment bonds are required, though bonds may be required for individual work orders exceeding specified thresholds. Liquidated damages are assessed at $250 per hour for failure to mobilize within five working days of notification and $250 per day for work suspension violations. Federal fuel price adjustment provisions apply to eligible pay items. The contract is subject to Title VI nondiscrimination requirements and minimum wage standards of $7.25 per hour.
