About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is pursuing a single source procurement for three FIRELAKE C6-200 Incinerators for the Division of Food Safety. This intended purchase is for laboratory furnaces and accessories to be procured exclusively from Mountain State Equipment. The specific incinerator units must comply with FDA, Building, and NFPA codes, featuring a primary chamber no larger than 6 cubic feet, a refractory lined stack, a two-burner system, and an approximate burn rate of 45-75 pounds per hour. The procurement process is being conducted through a statutorily mandated fifteen business day advertisement, with prospective vendors invited to provide relevant information by March 24, 2025. Key requirements include the ability to provide, install, and train staff on the specialized laboratory equipment, with Mountain State Equipment identified as the sole authorized vendor meeting the department's specific size and capacity requirements.
This procurement opportunity does not explicitly indicate any set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The total contract amount is estimated up to $200,000, with the current purchase valued at approximately $41,900. Mountain State Equipment is positioned as the sole source vendor, having been determined by the department as the only supplier capable of meeting the precise specifications for the incinerator units. The procurement has received approval from multiple officials, including the Safety Officer, Bureau Chief, Director of Food Safety Division, Purchasing Director II, and Division of Administration Director. Vendors interested in challenging the single source designation must submit relevant information demonstrating their capability to provide comparable equipment by the March 24, 2025 deadline. If no viable alternative vendors are identified, the department will proceed with posting its intent to enter an agreement with Mountain State Equipment through the Vendor Information Portal.
