About this opportunity
Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) is soliciting bids for monthly pest control services covering approximately 25 buildings located in Gainesville and Alachua County, Florida. The procurement (Document #2024-012) seeks a comprehensive pest management contractor to provide treatments for insects, flying insects, and rodents, with monthly treatments for facilities and quarterly treatments for substations. Qualified vendors must be properly licensed in Florida, have a minimum of five years of business experience, and employ licensed technicians. The contract requires daily rodent trap checks, treatment within six feet of building exteriors, and a 24-hour response time for pest control issues. Specific performance requirements include accompanying a GRU representative at sensitive locations like electric substations, and adherence to comprehensive safety and workforce protocols. The response deadline is May 9, 2024, at 2:00 pm, with electronic submissions required through GRU's e-Procurement Portal. The initial contract term will commence on the effective date and terminate on July 31, 2029, with potential one-year extensions upon mutual agreement.
The solicitation does not explicitly mention set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Contractors must provide detailed pricing with unit-based rates for substations and facilities, to be performed on an as-needed basis. Additional mandatory requirements include background checks for personnel, drug-free workplace certification, and personal protective equipment protocols. Contractors must demonstrate workforce qualifications, including having licensed technicians and a minimum of five years of business history. While specific budget ranges are not disclosed, the comprehensive nature of the pest control services across multiple facilities suggests a significant contract value. The procurement allows for potential contract extensions of one year and an additional six-month period to facilitate a new solicitation process, indicating the potential for long-term engagement with the selected vendor.
