About this opportunity
The City of Madison Engineering Division is seeking to procure modular concrete retaining wall blocks and concrete retaining wall caps to address flooding issues at four residential properties located at 9, 10, 11, and 12 Edgartown Court in Madison, Wisconsin. The procurement requires 1,486 square feet of modular concrete retaining wall blocks and 242 linear feet of straight concrete wall cap, to be delivered in two separate shipments. The first shipment of 871 SF of blocks and 144 LF of cap must be delivered by November 28, 2018, while the second shipment of 615 SF of blocks and 98 LF of cap is due by December 7, 2018, with the City retaining the right to cancel the second shipment with 72 hours' notice. The modular concrete retaining wall blocks must be equivalent to County Materials' Integrity Retaining Wall System, conforming to ASTM C1372 standards and ASTM C140 testing requirements, including a compressive strength of 3,000 psi, absorption of 8 percent for standard weight aggregates, and dimensional tolerances of 1/8 inch from nominal dimensions. The bid submission deadline is 4:00 p.m. on Monday, November 26, 2018, with proposals to be submitted to the City Engineer's office via email or hard copy. The City reserves the right to award the bid on a per-item basis or on total net bid, considering factors such as product availability and vendor proximity to minimize freight costs.
Contractors must comply with the City of Madison Standard Terms and Conditions, which include specific insurance requirements such as Commercial General Liability of $1,000,000 per occurrence, Professional Liability of $1,000,000, and Worker's Compensation. Contractors with 15 or more employees or $25,000 or more in annual aggregate business with the City must also meet affirmative action requirements. Deliveries must be made Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. to specified addresses, with coordination through Christopher Scharf at (608) 267-1973. All bid prices must be delivered prices with FOB Destination Freight Prepaid terms, including all shipping charges, freight fees, and packaging costs. While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on responding organizations are mentioned, contractors must adhere to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations and laws. The bid documents do not specify an exact award value or budget range, but the procurement involves concrete retaining wall blocks and caps for four residential properties. The City will evaluate bids based on factors such as product equivalence, delivery capabilities, and overall cost-effectiveness.
