About this opportunity

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development is requesting electronic bids for Mitch Road over Peters Creek, a federal-aid highway construction project in Washington Parish, with bids due June 24, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. through www.bidx.com.

The scope includes clearing and grubbing, removal of a timber bridge, grading, drainage structures, class II base course, lime treatment, asphalt concrete pavement, precast concrete piles, concrete slab span bridge construction, and related work on a 0.087-mile local road segment. The winning contractor must hold a Louisiana license for Highway, Street, and Bridge Construction classification and complete all work within 120 working days from Notice to Proceed, with an additional 90-day assembly period permitted prior to commencement of regular construction operations.

The project is subject to Build America Buy America provisions requiring domestically manufactured iron, steel, and construction materials unless a waiver is granted. All bids must comply with the 2026 Louisiana Standard Specifications for Roads and Bridges and mandatory electronic payroll submission via AASHTOWare Civil Rights & Labor Software. The contractor shall procure all required permits and licenses and maintain comprehensive insurance coverage including Workers Compensation, Commercial General Liability, Owner's Contractor Protective Liability, Business Automobile Liability, and Railroad Protective Liability Insurance of $5,000,000 per occurrence and $10,000,000 aggregate for Canadian National/Illinois Central Railroad.
