About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services is pursuing a single-source procurement for specialized laboratory equipment from Metrohm USA, Inc., specifically targeting two units of near-infrared spectrometers with associated sample robots and related components. The procurement, focused on the Division of Consumer Services, aims to enhance analytical testing capabilities for fuel samples, with the potential to reduce reporting time by approximately 50% and improve overall laboratory throughput. The opportunity, posted on May 8, 2025, requires prospective vendors to submit relevant information by May 30, 2025, if they believe they can provide comparable commodities or services. Metrohm USA, Inc. is identified as the exclusive U.S. distributor of these spectrometers, with unique capabilities to provide manufacturer-approved installation, training, service, and technical support. The procurement follows statutory requirements under Section 120.57(3) and 287.057(3) of Florida Statutes, with a comprehensive evaluation process to confirm the single-source justification.
This procurement does not explicitly mention set-aside designations or restrictions for specific enterprise types. The contract appears to be specifically tailored to Metrohm USA, Inc. as the sole provider meeting the precise equipment requirements for the Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services. The estimated contract value is approximately $204,005.42, with a total budget allocation of up to $225,000.00. The procurement is specifically for laboratory filtering equipment classified under UNSPSC code 41104900, with a focus on highly specialized near-infrared spectrometry technology. No incumbent vendors or existing infrastructure integration requirements are noted beyond the specific Metrohm equipment being sought. The procurement will be finalized through the Vendor Information Portal, with the Department reserving the right to determine whether the commodities or services are genuinely available from a single source after reviewing any submitted vendor information.
