About this opportunity
The City of Kentwood in Kent County, Michigan, is seeking competitive quotes for metal shipping containers through a Request for Quotation (RFQ) focused on materials storage for municipal purposes. The procurement opportunity involves obtaining either rental or purchase options for shipping containers to store office, fire, and police training equipment. Specifically, vendors can submit quotes for renting or buying two 20' containers or one 40' container with specific door configuration requirements, including double doors on each end or a combination of double and side door access. The containers must be leak-free, in good visual condition without logos, and preferably in a neutral beige color. The RFQ was posted on December 19, 2024, with proposals due by January 6, 2025, and no climate control is required for the storage containers. Evaluation will likely focus on container condition, functionality, pricing for rental and purchase options, and meeting the specified technical requirements for municipal equipment storage.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the documentation. The procurement does not appear to have limitations on vendor types, suggesting open competition for businesses capable of supplying shipping containers meeting the specified criteria. While no incumbent vendors were identified, the City of Kentwood's standard purchase order terms and conditions (dated 5-19-22) will govern the eventual contract, which includes comprehensive requirements for vendor insurance, liability, and performance standards. The document indicates minimum commercial general liability insurance of $1,000,000 per occurrence and $2,000,000 aggregate will be required. No specific budget range or award value was provided in the solicitation, leaving pricing flexibility for vendors to competitively quote rental and purchase options for the required shipping containers.
