About this opportunity
The Recreation and Park Commission for the Parish of East Baton Rouge (BREC) is requesting bids for furnishing and installing a prefabricated pedestrian bridge approximately 8 by 110 feet crossing Monte Sano Bayou at 2750 Harding Boulevard, with bids due October 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. Central Time and a non-mandatory pre-bid conference on October 14 at 9:00 a.m. at the project site. Contractors must hold a Louisiana State Licensing Board classification in "HIGHWAY, STREET, AND BRIDGE CONSTRUCTION" and include their license number on the bid envelope and bid form.
The scope includes demolition of previously existing bridge structures, rip rap installation in the channel, concrete paving to tie-in to existing pathways on either side of the bridge, and miscellaneous work associated with new bridge installation. BREC encourages minority participation through use of small, disadvantaged, and women-owned businesses as suppliers or subcontractors, though this is stated as an encouragement rather than a set-aside or participation goal.
Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud immediately following the October 27 deadline in Room 1501 of the BREC Administration Building at 6201 Florida Boulevard, Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Electronic or paper bids are accepted. A bid bond or certified check equal to five percent of the total bid amount must accompany paper bids. Bids shall remain firm for forty-five days from the opening date. Bid documents are available in electronic format through www.bidexpress.com or on disk for ten dollars from the BREC Purchasing Department.
