About this opportunity

Collin County Community College District is seeking a contractor for medical and chemo/pathological waste removal and disposal services through an Invitation to Bid (ITB) issued on January 26, 2024. The procurement covers waste management for Science Labs, Health Science, and Veterinary Technology Divisions across 10 campus locations, with a three-year contract period from April 1, 2024 through March 31, 2027. The successful vendor will provide transportation containers, collect sharps waste, dissection waste, and preserved specimens, with waste pickup frequencies ranging from 2 to 8 weeks depending on the campus location. Bidders must provide leak-resistant transportation containers, fully sanitize reusable containers, and ensure proper specimen handling. Key evaluation criteria include best value selection, considering factors such as vendor reputation, service quality, and ability to meet district needs. Critical procurement dates include a February 6, 2024 deadline for questions, with responses due by February 12, 2024 at 3:00 pm.

The procurement does not explicitly indicate specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. Vendors must meet comprehensive insurance requirements, including workers' compensation, commercial general liability, and business auto liability coverage. Contractors will be required to provide criminal background checks, verify employment eligibility, and comply with Texas government code regulations concerning boycotts, franchises, and business practices. While specific budget ranges are not detailed in the available documentation, the procurement covers multiple campus locations with varying container sizes and quantities, suggesting a potentially significant contract value. The district's emphasis on best value selection indicates that pricing will be important, but not the sole determining factor in vendor selection. Vendors must demonstrate technical capability, regulatory compliance, and a robust approach to medical and pathological waste management across diverse academic settings.
