About this opportunity
The City of Tampa, located in Hillsborough County, Florida, is issuing a Request for Proposals (RFP #26-P-00132) to procure mechanical plug valves for inventory purposes. Specifically, the City seeks four 4-inch mechanical plug valves with epoxy coating (Tampa Item #670.75.1118) and four 6-inch mechanical plug valves with epoxy coating (Tampa Item #670.75.1120) to be delivered to 2700 Maritime Blvd, Tampa, FL 33605. The valves will be used for force mains, pump stations, and the Howard F. Curren Advanced Wastewater Treatment Plant. All suppliers must comply with comprehensive technical specifications including AWWA C517 standards for eccentric plug valves designed for 175 PSI (3-12 inches) and 150 PSI (14-36 inches), factory interior and exterior coating of Tnemec Series 141 at 4 mils thick, and hydrostatic shop pressure testing at twice the working pressure. Contractors must submit detailed drawings showing all material types, coating manufacturers, coating types, and minimum dry film thicknesses for approval prior to fabrication, with valves required from a single manufacturer with interchangeable parts. All pricing must be submitted electronically through the OpenGov solicitation distribution system by January 27, 2026, and must include FOB shipping with all shipping, handling, and freight charges incorporated into the quoted unit and total costs. The award will be made for a 1-year period to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder, with the City reserving the right to award by division, line item, or aggregate total.
No set-aside designations or restrictions specifically targeting disadvantaged enterprises or women-owned or minority-owned businesses are mentioned in the solicitation documents. All awardees must comply with Federal and state laws, City of Tampa ordinances, Florida Public Records Law, the City's Ethics Code, and non-discrimination provisions, and must maintain appropriate insurance coverage including Commercial General Liability, Automobile Liability, and Worker's Compensation. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are identified in the available documentation. Payment will be made approximately 30 days after receipt and acceptance of materials, correct invoices, and normal processing time, with materials to be delivered within the timeframe specified in the technical specifications following receipt of order. While no specific award value or budget range is disclosed in the solicitation documents, the procurement is limited to eight valves total (four 4-inch and four 6-inch units) for inventory purposes. The City reserves the right to cancel or reject any and all quotes, delete items, or waive irregularities, and bid prices are firm and may not be amended after opening.
