About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting bids for lumber and styrofoam supplies for the Department of Conservation in Richmond, with quotes due August 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. local time. In-state vendors and those offering products manufactured in Maine receive preference in case of tie bids.
The scope consists of two distinct procurements. The first is pressure-treated lumber for saltwater dock applications: 1,014 pieces of CCA-treated Southern Yellow Pine in dimensions ranging from 2x4x10' to 6x6x10', and 673 pieces of Wolman CA-C 0.14-treated lumber and native white cedar in dimensions from 2x4x8' to 4x6x6', totaling 1,687 pieces with specified grades (Grade 1 and Grade 2) and D4S dressing. The second is floatation drums for FY2012: 124 units of 24"x96"x8" heavy-wall rotational molded drums and 32 units of 36"x48"x16" heavy-wall rotational molded drums, all constructed of 0.150-inch polyethylene with 1.0–1.5 lbs. per cubic foot EPS foam fill, UV inhibitors, molded-in mounting flanges, and compliance with Corps of Engineers Regulations 36 CFR Part 327. Delivery is required to the Department of Conservation at 1009 Brunswick Road, Richmond, Maine (attention Bill Cunningham) by September 16, 2011 for lumber and October 14, 2011 for drums. Vendors must provide a boom truck for off-loading.
The incumbent supplier is Viking Lumber of Belfast, Maine, which performed the prior year order in September 2010. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, considering product quality, specification conformity, delivery dates, and overall economy. Unit prices must be submitted separately for each item, delivered to destination with all discounts included. The State is exempt from Federal and Maine sales taxes. Cash discounts of 20 days or more will be factored into award decisions; shorter discounts will not. The Division reserves the right to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10 percent and to reject any or all quotes.
