The scope comprises 1,241 pieces of pressure-treated Southern Yellow Pine lumber in dimensions ranging from 2x4x10' to 6x6x10', including oak and native white cedar, designated for float construction with CCA treatment required for saltwater dock applications; and 108 pieces of styrofoam and foam-filled drums across three categories — 64 pieces of 7"x20"x8' styrofoam billets (type B.B., 1.8 lbs per cubic feet density, 55 lbs per cubic foot buoyancy), 16 pieces of 24"x96"x8" heavy-wall drums, and 28 pieces of 48"x72"x16" heavy-wall drums. Drums must feature one-piece rotational molded construction with 0.150-inch wall thickness, EPS foam filling (1.0–1.5 lbs per cubic foot density), virgin-grade polyethylene with UV inhibitors, and molded-in mounting flanges compliant with U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Regulations 36 CFR Part 327. All delivery is directed to the Department of Conservation at 1009 Brunswick Road, Richmond, Maine 04357, attention Bill Cunningham, on or before September 17, 2010, with 24 hours advance notice required and boom truck off-loading provided by the contractor.
Awards go to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, considering quality, conformity to specifications, delivery dates, and overall economy. In case of tied bids, preference is given to in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine. The State reserves the right to reject any or all quotes and to increase or decrease quantities by up to 10%. All transportation charges must be prepaid unless otherwise specified. Suppliers of hazardous chemicals must provide current material safety data sheets.
