About this opportunity

The New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is soliciting bids for the sale of forest products from Madison County under contract designation Lewis 25. The procurement encompasses the harvesting and sale of multiple timber species and firewood, including White Ash (92.1 MBF), Black Cherry (5.5 MBF), Red Maple (4.3 MBF), Sugar Maple (1.1 MBF), Yellow Birch (0.3 MBF), White Pine (2.1 MBF), Red Pine (1.1 MBF), and Hardwood Firewood (659.1 cords), with all quantities noted as approximate. The contract was posted on April 29, 2026, with a bid submission deadline of May 21, 2026. Bidders must demonstrate the capability to successfully harvest, extract, and market forest products in accordance with DEC specifications and environmental regulations. The contract includes provisions for potential extensions beyond the initial term, with individual extensions not to exceed 12 months and cumulative extensions capped at 24 months; any extension requests must be submitted in writing at least 60 days prior to the contract termination date and require DEC approval based on extenuating circumstances.

No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises, minority-owned businesses, or women-owned businesses are indicated in the procurement documentation. There are no incumbent vendors or current contractors listed as having held an identical or substantially similar procurement contract within the past five years, indicating this represents a new procurement opportunity without existing vendor continuity requirements. The documentation does not specify an award value or budget range for this forest products sale contract, suggesting that compensation will be determined through the competitive bidding process based on the appraised value of the standing timber and harvesting costs. Interested bidders should review the complete solicitation documents from the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation for detailed specifications regarding timber specifications, harvesting requirements, environmental compliance standards, and any additional qualifications or insurance requirements necessary for contract performance.
