About this opportunity

Central Carolina Community College is requesting bids for lawn and grounds maintenance services at two Chatham County satellite campuses under IFB #86-2027-003-R, with bids due October 2, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. EST and written questions due September 23, 2026. Award is anticipated for October 9, 2026, with work to begin within five business days of the October 12 effective date.

The scope covers routine lawn maintenance—mowing, string trimming, edging, and debris cleanup—at the Chatham Health Sciences Center (approximately 2.25 acres) and the Siler City Center (approximately 2.75 acres). Services include weekly full-service visits during the growing season and periodic off-season visits as scheduled by the College. A protected buffer zone around the College's organic farm must remain undisturbed to preserve organic certification. The College handles all chemical weed control in-house; vendors may not apply fertilizers, herbicides, or pesticides.

Vendors must hold either a valid North Carolina General Contractor License or Landscape Contractor License and maintain a crew of at least two to three technicians per visit with commercial-grade equipment including riding mowers with 48- to 60-inch cutting decks, walk-behind mowers, commercial string trimmers, and leaf blowers. Vendors must submit fixed per-visit pricing for full-service visits and off-season cleanup visits across all three contract years. Award will be based on the lowest responsive bid meeting all specifications, contingent on adequate operational capability, financial stability, satisfactory past-performance references, and commercial-grade equipment.

The initial contract term is one year beginning October 12, 2026, with options to renew for up to two additional one-year terms upon written notice at least thirty days before each term's end. The College does not guarantee minimum or maximum service quantities and pays strictly for services performed. Monthly invoices are submitted in arrears on a per-service-unit basis with net 30 payment terms. Site visits are encouraged but not required, available Monday–Thursday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., without appointment.

Opportunity text

The purpose of this Invitation for Bid (IFB) is to establish a contract for routine, professional lawn maintenance services to support the upkeep and enhance the overall appearance of Central Carolina Community Colleges Chatham County satellite campuses. These services are essential to maintaining a safe, clean, and accessible outdoor environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors throughout the year. The College maintains a range of landscaped and turf areas, including pedestrian walkways, parking lots, open lawns, and ornamental beds. Certain locations on campus have specialized maintenance requirements, including a protected buffer zone around the Colleges organic farm, which must remain undisturbed in order to preserve its organic certification. This contract is intended to supplement the Colleges internal groundskeeping resources, allowing for consistent and responsive care of campus grounds while addressing seasonal workload fluctuations and supporting long-term operational planning within budgetary constraints.
