About this opportunity

The Municipal Housing Authority of the City of Schenectady is seeking a qualified service provider to install and maintain laundry equipment across multiple housing developments, including Ten Eyck Apartments, Schonowee Village Apartments, and Lincoln Heights Apartments. The procurement (Solicitation No. 2024-07) specifically requires the vendor to provide 21 washers and 21 dryers that are Energy Star certified, with a focus on water and energy-saving technologies. The contract will be for a five-year duration, with proposals due on January 13, 2025, at 2:00 PM Eastern Standard Time. A mandatory pre-proposal conference will be held on December 30, 2024, which will include a facility tour. The proposal will be evaluated using a competitive method across four key factors: equipment specifications, organizational plan, previous experience, and vend rates and commission percentage. Vendors must install card-reader (coinless) machines and maintain Card Value Centers in public lobbies where residents can add value to their laundry cards.

The RFP does not explicitly detail specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises. The current laundry equipment is owned by CSC Service Works, Inc., which generated approximately $44,000 in gross revenue during the most recent one-year period. The selected vendor will be required to pay the Authority a commission percentage of the gross income collected from the machines, with the specific percentage to be determined during the proposal evaluation. While no specific budget range is provided, the historical revenue suggests potential annual earnings for the selected vendor. The procurement covers three specific housing developments, indicating a localized contract focused on serving the Schenectady County community. The primary objective is to provide efficient, reliable laundry services that meet the needs of residents while generating revenue for the Municipal Housing Authority.
