About this opportunity

This is a Request for Bid (RFB) issued by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet (KYTC) Division of Purchases for landscape maintenance services at the Boone County Welcome Center Rest Areas and Loadometer Stations along Interstate 75 and Interstate 71 in KYTC District 6. The scope of work includes mowing, trimming, mulching, weed control, insect control, pruning, removal of trees and shrubs, fertilization, and other related grounds maintenance services. The estimated total acreage to be maintained is 61 acres per mowing cycle, with approximately 30 cycles per season. The contract period is from the award date through February 28, 2025, with four optional one-year renewal periods. Bids will be evaluated on a Best Value basis, with 95 points allocated to the lowest price and 5 points allocated to the vendor's response time. Bids are due electronically by March 15, 2024.

The RFB includes a reciprocal preference for Kentucky resident bidders, as well as preferences for qualified bidders or the Department of Corrections' Division of Prison Industries. The winning bidder must provide commercial general liability insurance, workers' compensation insurance, and comply with all applicable state and federal laws. Liquidated damages of $250 per day may be assessed for failure to meet the contracted response time. The contract's estimated value is not provided, but the RFB states that price increases will not be allowed during the first 12 months and are limited to one increase during the contract period.
