About this opportunity
Jefferson County Board of County Commissioners is requesting bids on storm damage repairs to the Lamont Schoolhouse located at 1171 S. Salt Road, Lamont, Florida, with bids due June 19, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. EST and a mandatory pre-construction meeting on May 28, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at the project site. A local-business preference applies in case of tied bids: preference goes to bidders with a current Jefferson County business tax receipt and principal office within the county for the preceding six months.
The scope encompasses roof removal and replacement of 400 square feet of metal roofing with cap installation and girder truss work; exterior repairs including aluminum handrailing, fascia and soffit replacement and painting; and interior classroom restoration with oak flooring repair and refinishing, quarter-round trim removal and installation, door and window sealing and painting, shiplap siding replacement, and wall and ceiling sealing and painting. Add-alternate items include exterior pressure washing and painting and re-roofing of the entire building.
Bidders must be registered to do business in Florida and hold state contractor licensing where applicable. Insurance requirements include Workers' Compensation (state statutory with $100,000 employer's liability per accident and $500,000 aggregate), Business Automobile ($500,000 combined single limit), and Commercial General Liability ($500,000 combined single limit), all from insurers rated A:VIII or higher by Best's. A Performance Bond and Payment Bond are due fifteen days after Board execution. The County reserves the right to award to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder based on capability, integrity, past performance, financial resources, and personnel qualifications. In tied-bid scenarios, preference reverts to drug-free workplace programs, with final ties resolved by coin flip. Notice of intended award is scheduled for June 22, 2026, with Board consideration on July 2, 2026. Notice to Proceed will issue fifteen calendar days after Board approval. A Cone of Silence is in effect from May 20 through Notice of Award, prohibiting all communication with County officers or evaluation committee members outside scheduled pre-bid meetings.
