About this opportunity

Kennesaw State University (KSU) is issuing an electronic Request for Proposals (eRFP) under the State Purchasing Act to procure comprehensive transportation services for its campuses. The procurement seeks a qualified vendor to establish a full-service transit operation that includes providing buses, bus operators, transit management, DOT compliance, and fleet maintenance. Key deliverables include developing a transit system that serves students, faculty, staff, and visitors with an emphasis on safety, accessibility, and efficiency. Specific requirements mandate that the selected vendor ensure all vehicles comply with current ADA codes, optimize routes to minimize passenger wait times, and coordinate trained drivers strategically. The proposal evaluation will likely focus on the vendor's ability to demonstrate precise route planning, driver training protocols, maintenance standards, and sustainability practices such as using hybrid or alternative fuel vehicles. The solicitation was posted on March 7, 2025, with proposals due by March 24, 2025, giving potential vendors approximately two weeks to prepare and submit their comprehensive transportation service proposals.

While no specific set-aside designations or disadvantaged enterprise requirements are explicitly mentioned in the procurement document, the RFP suggests a comprehensive and competitive selection process. The transportation services contract will require substantial operational capabilities, including maintaining a fleet of buses, managing DOT-certified drivers, and implementing sophisticated routing technologies. The scope indicates a preference for vendors with extensive experience in university or institutional transit systems, particularly those demonstrating advanced capabilities in route optimization, safety management, and sustainable transportation solutions. Although no specific budget range is provided, the complexity of the requirements suggests this is a significant, multi-year contract with potential substantial annual value. The successful vendor will need to showcase not only operational excellence but also a commitment to supporting KSU's broader institutional goals of safety, accessibility, and environmental sustainability.
