About this opportunity
The State of California Military Department is requesting bids on kitchen fire suppression system services at five armory locations throughout the North Region under IFB Event #39663, with bids due July 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. PST and questions due July 7, 2026. The contractor must hold a CSLB C-16 Fire Protection Contractor License or a valid "A" License Type 2 issued by the Office of the State Fire Marshal — the core licensing filter. The scope covers testing, maintenance, and certification of wet chemical pre-engineered automatic fire extinguishing systems at five locations: Chico, Oroville, Red Bluff, Redding, and Yuba City. Services include inspections, nozzle and piping checks, tank and gauge testing, manual pull-station verification, gas and electrical shut-off checks, fusible-link replacement, system recharging, and certification in compliance with California Health & Safety Code sections 13195–13199, California Code of Regulations Title 19, and Title 24 California Building Standards Code. The contractor must perform biannual services (six times over the contract period) on a fixed schedule: July 2026, January 2027, June 2027, January 2028, June 2028, and January 2029. All work must occur between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, excluding state and federal holidays. Completed work carries a 30-day warranty; the contractor bears call-back costs for warranty corrections.
The contract term is three years (36 months), estimated to begin July 2026 through June 2029. The state seeks a single lump-sum bid covering all contractor costs. The prime contractor must self-perform at least 20% of total work; all subcontractors must be licensed by CSLB for their respective trades and listed with license numbers. Insurance requirements include commercial general liability of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, automobile liability of $1 million per occurrence if applicable, and statutory workers' compensation with $1 million employers' liability limits. Award will be made to the lowest responsive bid from a qualified, responsible bidder. Bids must be submitted to the Purchasing and Contracting Branch at 10601 Bear Hollow Drive, Rancho Cordova, California 95670.
