About this opportunity
The California Department of Highway Patrol is soliciting bids for Evidence Impound Tow and Storage Services at the CHP South Sacramento Area office under IFB #26C252003, with bids due August 28, 2026 at 3:00 p.m. and a public bid opening at 3:30 p.m. the same day at the CHP Business Services Section in Sacramento.
Bidders must hold a valid local business license, maintain good standing as a rotation tow provider on the CHP South Sacramento Area Tow Service Agreement with no suspensions within the past year, and demonstrate proof of liability insurance, driver licenses, and fingerprint clearance. Performance requirements include 24-hour, seven-days-per-week light-duty, medium-duty, and heavy-duty towing; rotator services; vehicle storage; and post-storage vehicle inspections. Bidders must perform at least 75 percent of services in-house and may subcontract no more than 25 percent. DVBE participation requirement has been waived; however, small business and non-small business subcontractor preferences are available and may be pursued voluntarily.
The budgetary limit for the anticipated three-year term (October 1, 2026 through September 30, 2029) is $450,000, though CHP makes no commitment to any specific volume of services. Pricing is structured on hourly rates for towing (15 light-duty, 15 medium-duty, 10 heavy-duty, and 5 rotator calls) and post-storage inspections, and daily flat-rate storage for general and commercial vehicles (25 vehicles per day for 365 days). Contract award goes to the responsive and responsible bidder offering the lowest cost. CHP reserves discretion to extend the agreement beyond the initial three-year term contingent on satisfactory performance and funding availability, and to amend the agreement if required work exceeds the budgeted amount.
Questions are due August 21, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. No walk-through meeting is scheduled.
