About this opportunity
Wilson Community College is seeking to procure a Type III Ambulance through an Invitation for Bid (IFB) numbered 134-202526-004-R, with bids due on November 4, 2025, at 2:00 PM ET. The procurement aims to replace a 2008 Chevrolet EMS unit that has been out of service since December 2024 and has accumulated over 180,000 miles. The specific ambulance must be built on a 2025 Ford E350 Cutaway chassis and include a 148" module, multiple exterior compartments, Stryker Power-LOAD system, advanced interior lighting, and safety equipment. Key objectives include meeting North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS) regulations by providing students with 20 hours of drivers' education and hands-on training in simulated EMS operational settings. The ambulance must meet certification standards like KKK-A-1822-F CN 10 and include comprehensive electrical systems, warning lights, and communication equipment. Vendors are required to complete a pricing attachment and submit supplemental documents such as HUB participation forms and customer references.
The solicitation encourages participation from small, minority, and women-owned businesses, with specific emphasis on HUB (Historically Underutilized Business) participation. While no specific award value is explicitly stated, the procurement follows North Carolina state purchasing guidelines and appears to be an agency contract targeting educational institutional needs. The bid seeks to support Wilson Community College's workforce training program by providing a modern EMS training unit that enables students to gain practical experience. Vendors must demonstrate capability to provide a fully equipped Type III Ambulance that meets stringent technical specifications and regulatory requirements. The procurement covers Watauga County and Yanceyville Town jurisdictions, indicating a potential regional impact. No incumbent vendors are mentioned, and the solicitation does not indicate any existing infrastructure integration requirements beyond the standard ambulance specifications.

REPOST - Wilson Community College is seeking to purchase a new EMS unit to replace its current 2008 Chevrolet TYPE III EMS unit which has over 180,000 miles and has been out of service since December 2024 due to a breakdown. On February 27, 2024, Chevrolet confirmed that no replacement parts were available to repair the unit. Per North Carolina Office of Emergency Medical Services (NCOEMS), colleges must provide at least 20 hours of drivers' education and hands-on training in the driving operation of an EMS Unit (ambulance). The purchase of this unit will allow Wilson Community College to meet NCOEMS regulations by providing hands-on driving training and operational training in the EMS unit in simulated settings. This purchase will address the colleges' needs to provide the required NCOEMS training and better prepare students for the workforce. The intent of this solicitation is to award an Agency Contract.
