About this opportunity
Texas A&M Natural Resources Institute is requesting bids for invasive Brazilian peppertree eradication and treatment across approximately 5.5 acres at Naval Air Station Corpus Christi in Nueces County, Texas, with bids due October 9, 2026.
The scope encompasses four treatment areas: Dimmit Shoreline (2.4 acres), Southern Fence Line (2.5 acres), Golf Course East (0.25 acres), and Golf Course West (0.25 acres). The primary method is cut-stump removal with immediate herbicide application to prevent resprouting, using chainsaw-based removal due to site conditions. Vegetation disposal is priced separately; shoreline materials may remain in place, while golf course cut material must be removed off-installation. Contractors must account for challenging site conditions including steep slopes, limited vehicle access, and possible boat access requirements.
All herbicide applicators must hold current Texas Commercial Applicator licenses and personally conduct applications, submitting licenses to TAMU-NRI no later than ten days before field work. Herbicide specifications — including trade name, EPA registration number, application rate, method, and equipment — must be submitted at least ten days prior to treatment and are subject to Naval Air Station Corpus Christi approval. Herbicide mixing is prohibited on-installation and must occur off-site; vehicles transporting herbicides must carry spill kits, eyewash, emergency wash water, fire extinguishers, and first aid kits.
Deliverables include daily field records, herbicide application reports within ten business days of treatment, pre/during/post-treatment photographs, and GIS deliverables in ESRI-compatible formats. Bid proposals must include company qualifications, applicator licenses, treatment methodology, proposed herbicides, logistics approach, disposal methodology, preliminary schedules, and separate unit pricing for treatment activities, material disposal, and optional boat access. Contractors must obtain installation access credentials and coordinate with Naval Air Station Corpus Christi.
