About this opportunity

The Town of Hamilton, Massachusetts Department of Public Works is requesting bids for Patton Park Gazebo renovations under IFB 2027-004, with bids due July 22, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. and public opening at 12:00 p.m. the same day at the Hamilton Wenham Public Library. Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements apply — a central compliance filter for all bidders.

The scope includes carpentry, painting, roofing, and miscellaneous electrical work on the existing wooden gazebo structure. The base bid covers ramp demolition and reconstruction, rotted wood repair and reconsolidation, wood surface preparation and painting, new lighting and power installation, new asphalt shingles with aluminum trim, and cupola restoration. Alternate 1 substitutes cedar shingles and copper flashing and trim for asphalt shingles and aluminum. The contractor must commence work within ten days of receiving the Notice to Proceed and complete the project within 60 consecutive calendar days. All employees must complete an OSHA-approved construction safety and health course of at least 10 hours before beginning work. Liquidated damages are $200 per day for failure to achieve substantial completion within the specified timeframe.

Bid security is required in an amount equal to 5% of the total bid, in the form of certified check, bid bond, or treasurer's/cashier's check. The successful bidder must furnish a labor and materials bond equal to 50% of the total contract price. Site visits at Patton Park are strongly encouraged and can be scheduled by contacting DPW Director Timothy J. Olson at tolson@hamiltonma.gov. Award will be made to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder in accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 149, Section 44A. The contractor must comply with prevailing wage schedules, submit certified weekly payrolls, and provide proof of tax compliance and non-debarment status.
