About this opportunity

The state of California, specifically the Department of Rehabilitation (DOR) for the Van Nuys District in Los Angeles County, is seeking qualified contractors to provide In-Person American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting Services through Invitation for Bid (IFB) # C25-33049. The primary objective is to secure RID and/or RID-NAD certified ASL interpreters who can support DOR employees during meetings, conferences, and training sessions. Services will be delivered Monday through Friday between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Pacific Time, with interpreters potentially required in classroom settings to interpret presentations, lectures, videotapes, and group discussions. The interpreters must be capable of providing comprehensive communication support across various professional environments. The solicitation was posted on May 6, 2025, with proposals due by May 21, 2025. The contract will cover interpreting services across multiple district and branch offices, as detailed in the attached documentation. Interpreters must demonstrate current certification and the ability to facilitate clear, accurate communication for deaf and hard-of-hearing employees.

The procurement appears to include provisions for small business and Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise (DVBE) participation, as evidenced by the attached government files related to SB and DVBE incentives. The Darfur Contracting Act Certification form suggests additional compliance requirements for vendors with international business activities. Potential bidders must complete standard state documentation, including the Payee Data Record (STD 204), which captures critical tax and business information. While specific budget ranges are not explicitly stated, the contract will operate on an as-needed basis, suggesting flexible engagement terms. The solicitation implies a preference for local or California-based vendors who can meet the strict certification requirements for ASL interpretation. Bidders must carefully review all attached documents, including the IFB_C25-33049 main document, to ensure full compliance with state procurement regulations and interpreting service standards.
