About this opportunity
The California Department of State Hospitals (DSH) has issued Invitation for Bid (IFB) 24-41030-000 for comprehensive dental equipment maintenance and repair services at the DSH-Napa facility. The procurement seeks a contractor to provide preventative maintenance, certification, and repair services for dental equipment, encompassing critical tasks such as calibration, lubrication, alignment, parts replacement, and early detection of potential equipment failures. Contractors must comply with multiple regulatory standards, including Titles 8, 19, 22, and 24 of the California Code of Regulations, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) 99, Cal/OSHA, Joint Commission standards, and National Electrical Code. The contract requires providers to quote an hourly rate for services, with an estimated 100 service hours anticipated over the contract term. Key procurement dates include an optional bidder's conference on December 3, 2024, at 10:00 AM, a deadline for questions on December 13, 2024, and bid submissions due on December 31, 2024, at 3:00 PM, with an anticipated contract period from February 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026.
The solicitation offers a 5% bid preference for certified small businesses and disabled veteran business enterprises, creating opportunities for disadvantaged business participation. Bidders must demonstrate specific qualifications, including providing three references from dentists, with at least one reference showing experience with Adec Dental Units and Air Techniques equipment. The procurement includes a $60,000 allowance for miscellaneous parts, which will be reimbursed at actual cost with proof of purchase. Insurance requirements mandate commercial general liability coverage of $1 million per occurrence and $2 million aggregate, along with workers' compensation coverage. While no incumbent vendor is explicitly mentioned, the contract suggests a need for vendors with specialized dental equipment maintenance expertise, particularly with Adec and Air Techniques systems. The overall contract value appears to be structured around the $60,000 parts allowance and estimated service hours, indicating a potential total contract value in the range of $75,000 to $100,000 depending on actual repair needs and hourly rates.
