The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is requesting bids on trash collection, hauling, and disposal services in Del Norte County under IFB 01A6668, with bids due August 27, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. A 5% small business or micro-business preference applies to certified SB or MB bidders, capped at a maximum preference amount of $50,000; a separate 5% Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise incentive is available for bids with verified 100% DVBE participation, subject to a combined incentive and preference dollar cap of $100,000.
Contractor must provide all labor, trash bins, equipment, travel, and associated costs — including disposal fees and taxes — to deliver weekly collection of two to four cubic yard trash bins and monthly collection of one to two cubic yard recycling bins at two maintenance stations: Crescent City Maintenance Station (711 Highway 101 North, Crescent City, CA 95531) and Idlewild Maintenance Station (15600 Highway 199, Gasquet, CA 95543). Non-routine collection of up to one 20-cubic yard bin at Idlewild is available on request. Routine services operate Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., excluding state holidays. The contractor must possess a valid California Department of Motor Vehicles Motor Carrier Permit at bid submission and throughout the contract term, comply with Senate Bill 1383 organic waste recycling requirements, maintain current licenses from local enforcement agencies, and provide disposal receipts from licensed and legally authorized disposal sites.
The contract is estimated to commence January 2, 2027 and expire January 1, 2030. The estimated award date is September 3, 2026. Written questions are due August 20, 2026. Bid opening occurs at 2:30 p.m. on August 27. Contract award goes to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. All required documents — Motor Carrier Permit copy, California Civil Rights Laws Certification, and Darfur Contracting Act Certification — must accompany the bid. Monthly payment is made in arrears upon receipt and approval of itemized invoices including agreement number, service dates, location, bin quantities, and original disposal receipts.
