About this opportunity

The Maine Department of Transportation is requesting bids on a hydraulic detachable lowboy trailer with bids due July 28, 2010. The trailer specification filters to model year 2007–2009 with fewer than 4,500 hours of operation.

The scope is a 5th wheel design lowboy trailer for construction equipment delivery. The trailer must carry a minimum 35 tons per 16 feet of deck, feature a platform width not exceeding 102 inches and minimum length of 24 feet, and include full-width wood-covered decking at least 1.5 inches thick. Construction must employ T-1 steel I-beam with cambered beams, air ride suspension with height control, and anti-lock brakes with auto slack adjusters. The gooseneck detach and support cylinders operate hydraulically. The trailer includes 12-inch removable extension brackets, adjustable front ramps, a minimum of 10 lash rings, and on-board chain and binder storage. LED lighting is required. Bidders must submit manufacturer's brochures and specification sheets with their proposal and certify that they maintain service facilities in Maine staffed with trained technicians and stocked with repair parts. All bid exceptions must be clearly identified in separate documentation; unmarked exceptions will be interpreted as full compliance.

Evaluation criteria include price, manufacturer performance data, delivery schedule, parts availability, and other relevant factors. All bid proposals must include shipping and delivery costs to Maine DOT Fleet Service at 105 Capitol Street, Augusta, Maine 04330. The issuing body reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
