About this opportunity

The District of Columbia Office of Contracting and Procurement is seeking a contractor to execute the Heritage Trail Signs program, a collaborative initiative between the District Department of Transportation and the Cultural Tourism Organization. The primary objective is to repair, replace, or install approximately 158 Heritage Trail Signs throughout the District of Columbia, with a focus on identifying historic sites and providing detailed historical and cultural information about these locations. The contract involves comprehensive sign installation and maintenance services, requiring contractors to demonstrate expertise in sign fabrication, installation, and potential repair work. The procurement opportunity was posted on July 3, 2024, with the same date listed as the proposal due date, indicating a potentially expedited procurement process. Contractors will need to possess technical capabilities for creating informative, durable signage that meets the District's cultural and historical documentation standards, potentially requiring skills in graphic design, historical research, and municipal infrastructure integration.

While specific set-aside designations are not explicitly detailed in the provided information, the contract appears to be open to qualified contractors with demonstrated capabilities in sign design and installation. No incumbent vendors or current contractors are mentioned in the procurement notice. The contract does not specify a precise budget range or award value, which suggests potential flexibility in project scope and pricing. Interested contractors should anticipate a competitive bidding process that will likely evaluate technical expertise, historical accuracy, sign design quality, and installation capabilities. Potential respondents should be prepared to demonstrate knowledge of District of Columbia historic sites, cultural significance, and the ability to create informative, visually appealing signage that meets the cultural documentation objectives of the Heritage Trail Signs program.
