About this opportunity
St. Mary's College of Maryland (SMCM) and Historic St. Mary's City are seeking a heating fuel contractor to provide 165,000 gallons of No. 2 Heating Oil and 10,000 gallons of Bio-based fuel for the fiscal year from July 1, 2025, through June 30, 2026. The procurement opportunity, identified by State Local Contract Opportunity ID 681a2c2035746e4f480935cb, requires the successful vendor to deliver Ultra-low Sulfur Heating Oil with a sulfur content not exceeding 15 parts per million (PPM), in compliance with Maryland state regulations. Delivery will be conducted via gravity delivery by Tank Wagon, with the fuel price locked in at the contracted rate for the entire performance period or until full fuel quantities are delivered. The contract posting date is May 5, 2025, with proposals due by May 27, 2025. Contractors must be prepared to provide all fuel on an as-needed basis, with the award price inclusive of delivery and all applicable charges. The procurement is specific to St. Mary's County, Maryland, and targets heating fuel supply for two specific governmental entities.
While no specific set-aside designations or restrictions on vendor types were explicitly mentioned in the contract opportunity, potential bidders should be established fuel suppliers with the capability to meet the precise fuel specifications. The contract appears to be a competitively bid procurement with potential for a substantial annual fuel supply contract valued at approximately $300,000-$500,000, depending on current fuel market rates. Vendors will need to demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver high-quality, low-sulfur heating oil and bio-based fuel through gravity tank wagon delivery. The procurement suggests a preference for local or regional fuel suppliers with established distribution capabilities in the St. Mary's County area. Interested contractors should carefully review the full solicitation documents and be prepared to provide detailed pricing, delivery schedules, and compliance documentation with Maryland's fuel standards. The contract represents a critical fuel supply opportunity for two important governmental institutions in the region.
