About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting bids for handicap door openers with bids due May 27, 2009. In-state bidders and those offering Maine-manufactured products receive tie-bid preference.

The scope spans ten Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles branch offices located in Bangor, Calais, Caribou, Ellsworth, Lewiston, Mexico, Rockland, South Portland, Springvale, and Topsham. Each location has distinct door configurations — single or double doors in foyers and lobbies — that the awardee must accommodate. Branch manager contact information and specific door details are provided in the attached branch list to support site-specific bidding.

Bidders must submit separate unit prices for each item, prepay all transportation and delivery charges, and comply with applicable federal, state, and local laws. The state reserves the right to reject any or all bids and to adjust order quantities by up to 10 percent. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder based on best value considerations including quality, conformity with specifications, delivery dates, and ultimate cost. All bids must be sealed and submitted electronically to the Division of Purchases prior to the closing time; amendments and late submissions will not be considered. Bidders must specify terms and cash discounts, though discounts under 20 days will not be considered in contract awards. The State of Maine is exempt from federal and state sales taxes, and bids should exclude these taxes. Contractors must provide current material safety data sheets for any hazardous chemicals under Maine's Chemical Substance Identification Law and assume responsibility for material deviations from specifications, which may result in rejection.
