Its goal is to ensure that businesses have skilled workers and job seekers have access to employment and training resources and services. Through a highly competitive process, the United States Department of Commerce Economic Development Administration selected Maryland as one of 32 recipients of the Good Jobs Challenge (GJC) grant program. The GJC is a component of the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) and is designed to help Americans recover from the economic effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. Through the GJC, EDA has demonstrated its commitment to regional workforce training systems that connect employers with qualified workers and help job seekers find and keep quality employment to advance along their chosen career path. Administered by the Maryland Department of Labor, the Maryland Works for Wind (MWW) initiative is a regional consortium that will collaboratively design, implement, and execute a pipeline of skilled talent to support Maryland's emerging Offshore Wind (OSW) clean energy industry.
