The City of Schenectady Department of Engineering is requesting bids for furnish and installation of wayfinding signage in Central Park under RFB #2026-11-ENG, with sealed bids due September 2, 2026 at 10:30 a.m. All bids must comply with New York State prevailing wage requirements under Article 8 of the Labor Law (PRC# 2026024078, effective July 2026–June 2027), and contractor registration with the New York State Department of Labor under Labor Law Section 220-i is mandatory prior to bid submission.
The scope encompasses five sign types totaling 47 units: Type E Entrance Signs (11 units), Type W Vehicular Wayfinding Signs (19 units), Type D Vehicular Destination Signs (6 units), Type P Pedestrian Wayfinding Signs (5 units), and Type K Pedestrian Wayfinding Kiosks (6 units). Each requires cast-in-place concrete footings, aluminum composite or aluminum sign panels, decorative aluminum rings, and hardware installation. Three alternates incorporate 4-inch decorative aluminum rings. Substantial completion is May 1, 2027; liquidated damages are $250 per day for delays beyond that date.
Bid security of 5% of the total bid amount is required at submission. Payments are made upon submission of completed AIA documents with 5% retainage on progress payments. The City is exempt from federal, state, and local taxes.
Women, minority, and service-disabled veteran-owned businesses are encouraged to apply. The City reserves the right to award on a per-item or aggregate basis, reject any or all bids, and utilize New York State contracts or other procurement vehicles at its discretion. Written questions to Emily Gardner, Director of Landscape Architecture and Community Planning at Saratoga Associates, are due at least four days prior to bid submission. Public bid opening is scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on September 2, 2026 at the City Clerk's Office.
