About this opportunity
The Long Beach Utilities Department is requesting bids to furnish and deliver aqua ammonia (19.5% solution) for potable water treatment at the Long Beach Groundwater Treatment Plant, with bids due May 19, 2023 at 10:00 a.m. The estimated purchase is 280 total tons in bulk (approximately 54.6 dry tons of NH3 content) over a one-year contract period.
The product must be certified approved by NSF/ANSI, NSF/UL, or ANSI/UL Standard 60 and manufactured at and shipped from an NSF/ANSI, NSF/UL, or ANSI/UL certified plant—a mandatory capability filter. The aqua ammonia must comply with AWWA B305 standards and meet specified concentration and purity requirements, including limits on heavy metals (lead), sulfur, and carbon dioxide. Bidders must submit proof of NSF/UL certification, an actual chemical analysis of the product sample, a list of five current customers as references, and disclosure of any deviations from specifications.
Pricing shall be quoted on a per-dry-ton basis as a firm contract price for all items ordered, including all delivery costs and associated fees; no price adjustments are permitted during the contract period. Deliveries must be made FOB to the treatment plant within three business days of request. Payment terms are NET/30 unless otherwise quoted, submitted after completion of delivery and acceptance. The bidder shall have a representative in California authorized to represent the company in all matters pertinent to the contract.
Questions are due May 11, 2023 at 10:00 a.m., with answers posted by May 15, 2023 at 3:00 p.m. Bids are submitted via email to Jazzmyn.Clark@lbwater.org. A Notice of Intent to Award issued June 8, 2023 indicates the Long Beach Utilities Department completed evaluation of two quotes and intends to award to the lowest responsive bidder; Hill Brothers submitted the lowest unit price at $2,037.00 per dry ton.
