About this opportunity

The Hawaii State Department of Education Procurement and Contracts Branch is requesting sealed bids to furnish and deliver one new forklift for Waialua High and Intermediate School, with bids due July 2, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. Hawaii Standard Time via the State of Hawaii eProcurement System (HIePRO).

The forklift must be a 2026 or 2027 model (Toyota 50-8FGU25, Clark S25L, or equivalent) with a minimum 5,000-pound load capacity, liquid propane fuel system, three-stage mast with maximum 86-inch lowered height, solid pneumatic tires, side-shifting fork positioner carriage with fourth lever, electronic stability system, and comprehensive safety features including strobe-amber warning lights, audible backup alarm, and mounted fire extinguisher. The contractor must deliver within 180 days from full contract execution, with visual inspection and acceptance conducted at the school site with both contractor and Department of Education representatives present.

Four mandatory requirements apply to all offerors: the bidder must be a manufacturer or authorized distributor or reseller with supporting manufacturer documentation; maintain an office in the State of Hawaii with direct telephone accessibility throughout the contract and warranty period; have or arrange an authorized service facility on Oahu with at least one manufacturer-trained technician and parts inventory access; and designate a Hawaii-based employee as point of contact available Monday through Friday during regular business hours. The unit bid price must be all-inclusive, covering labor, equipment, materials, transportation, delivery, overhead, profit, applicable taxes, and all incidental expenses, with no additional charges permitted.

Award will be made to the responsive, responsible offeror submitting the lowest bid, provided the bid price does not exceed allotted funds. The contractor must provide a 12-month or 2,000-hour standard manufacturer's warranty and a 36-month or 6,000-hour powertrain warranty. Contractors must comply with Hawaii Revised Statutes requirements and maintain liability insurance of $2,000,000 commercial general liability aggregate and $1,000,000 automobile liability per accident, with the State of Hawaii named as additional insured. Hard copies of all original offer pages must be received by the Procurement and Contracts Branch within five working days after the bid closing date.
