About this opportunity
San Bernardino County Department of Public Works is requesting bids on a new fuel truck for diesel fuel and DEF delivery operations under ITB, with bids due October 13, 2026 at 3:30 p.m. and questions due October 6, 2026. A 5% local-vendor preference applies to businesses with principal places of business within San Bernardino County boundaries.
The truck must be a current-production, fully operational gasoline-powered Class 3–6 vehicle with standard cab configuration, V8 engine, automatic transmission, and 4×4 drivetrain. Required equipment includes 80–100 gallon capacity aluminum saddle fuel tanks for dual-fuel delivery, comprehensive LED work and warning lighting, and optional EJ Ward Mobile Fuel Control Terminal with Starlink satellite connectivity. The vehicle must comply with California Department of Motor Vehicles regulations, Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards, Department of Transportation requirements, California Air Resources Board regulations, and Advanced Clean Fleets reporting where applicable.
No contract value is stated. Delivery is FOB destination within 120 days of purchase order receipt, with final acceptance upon full compliance inspection. A $100 per day penalty applies for late delivery of the unit or required documentation. Bids must remain valid for a baseline period of twelve months from bid opening, with the County reserving the right to extend proposal validity up to three years with annual price increases not exceeding the U.S. Department of Commerce price index. Pricing shall be firm fixed-price with freight itemized separately, exclusive of California sales/use tax and Federal excise tax. Payment terms are Net 60 days from receipt and approval of invoice.
Award will be made to the responsive, responsible bidder providing the best value based on weighted scoring: Cost and Pricing (40%), Technical Compliance and Quality (25%), Delivery and Lead Time (15%), Proposal Validity and Terms (10%), and Aftermarket Support, Service, and Diagnostics (10%). Public agencies located in San Bernardino County may participate in any resulting award at no County freight responsibility; agencies outside the County may participate but must cover all freight charges.
