About this opportunity

The Colorado Department of Corrections is requesting quotes for fresh produce to supply correctional facility kitchens across multiple locations, with quotes due July 8, 2026 and delivery scheduled July 13–15, 2026. Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Businesses may submit with appropriate U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs certification documentation.

The scope includes 30 produce line items spanning fruits, vegetables, and specialty items—apples (454 boxes), bananas (207 boxes), oranges (205 boxes), carrots (119 bags), celery (60 cartons), bell peppers (60 boxes), and russet potatoes (610 bags), among others. All items must meet current United States Department of Agriculture standards, be properly labeled with identity and origin and date coded, and carry a minimum shelf life of 10 days for salad mix and shredded lettuce upon delivery to the DOC warehouse. Brand substitutions are not permitted. Deliveries are staggered across three dates to accommodate Buena Vista Correctional Complex (Monday prior to noon), Arkansas Valley Correctional Facility and Central Warehouse (Tuesday with varied deadlines), Sterling Correctional Facility (Tuesday by 9:00 a.m.), and three Denver and Limon facilities (Wednesday with specific time windows). Vendors must provide three calendar days' written notice if unable to meet delivery schedules; three separate non-deliveries within the contract term may result in disqualification from CDOC solicitations for three years or indefinitely.

Pricing must be all-inclusive on an F.O.B. Destination basis with vendors responsible for incorporating shipping costs into bids; no additional shipping charges, surcharges, or taxes will be paid. All pricing must be itemized on Exhibit D with unit costs and extended costs on each item. Pricing is firm for the one-year duration of the purchase order. Bidders must complete and return Exhibits A through F, provide a completed W-9, and certify Colorado Secretary of State registration, absence of litigation against the State, payment of applicable state taxes, and no defaults or contract terminations in the past five years. Commercial General Liability Insurance with $1,000,000 each occurrence and general aggregate limits is required; the State must be named as additional insured.
