About this opportunity
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is requesting bids for a flameless hot patch truck body—a self-contained asphalt transport and delivery system—with bids due March 23, 2010. An in-state vendor preference applies under Maine law; bidders must certify that they maintain service facilities in Maine staffed with trained technicians and stocked with repair parts, or face bid rejection.
The scope encompasses a 5.1 cubic yard double steel-encased hopper with industrial insulation, a 6×6 hydraulically driven reversible auger, a full-length reversible agitator, a 105-degree rotating discharge chute with locking positions, double steel jacketed hydraulic doors with safety lockouts, a variable-volume piston pump (12 GPM at 3000 PSI), an onboard hydraulically driven 230-volt AC electric generator with 3.5 kW heating elements, a self-cleaning air-assisted tack coat system with an 80-gallon heated tank, rear and side-mounted spoils bins, a hydraulic jackhammer with asphalt chisel, a vibratory plate compactor, and a swing auger. The unit must mount on a 35,000 GVWR chassis with 12,000-pound front and 23,000-pound rear axle capacity, air brakes, 12-volt electrical system, and vertical exhaust. The equipment package includes a one-year warranty against faulty materials and workmanship and minimum one-day operator and mechanic training with comprehensive operating, service, and parts manuals.
Bid prices must include shipping and delivery to MaineDOT Fleet Service at 105 Capitol Street, Augusta. Bidders must submit detailed manufacturer's brochures and specification sheets and document any exceptions on separate documentation. MaineDOT will evaluate proposals on price, warranty terms, manufacturer's performance data, delivery schedule, parts availability, and other factors deemed appropriate. Bidders must quote prices excluding Maine state sales and use tax.
