About this opportunity

The City of Brockton Building Department is requesting quotes for fire sprinkler repair services at various municipal buildings under an on-call contract for FY27, with quotes due August 19, 2026 at 4:30 p.m. The contractor must respond on-site within 60 minutes for standard calls and 30 minutes for emergency calls, a core capability requirement. Massachusetts prevailing wage requirements apply — the Sprinkler Fitter rate is $111.20 per hour (effective January 1, 2026) including base wage, health, pension, and annuity components.

The scope encompasses maintenance and repairs of fire sprinkler systems, sprinkler piping, sprinkler heads, Ansul systems, and inspections. The contractor furnishes all labor, materials, equipment, and insurance. Material costs are marked up at 10 percent above vendor cost and must be supported by original supplier invoices. Travel charges, mileage, and truck charges are not permitted. Pricing is based on separate hourly rates for Sprinkler Fitters working Monday through Friday (7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.) and nights, weekends, and holidays, with the latter capped at 1.5 times the weekday rate.

The contract period runs September 1, 2026 through June 30, 2027. Quotes exceeding $25,000 require a 50 percent payment bond from an acceptable surety company. The City awards to the lowest responsive and responsible bidder. Contractors must demonstrate at least five years' experience on similar projects with minimum licensed technicians on staff, provide three project references, furnish certificates of insurance naming the City as co-insured and owner, and ensure all employees have completed a minimum of 10 hours of OSHA-approved training. Certified payroll documentation demonstrating prevailing wage compliance is required prior to invoice payment. Written questions are due August 12, 2026.
