About this opportunity
Gull Lake Community Schools in Michigan is soliciting competitive bids for the Filter First Upgrades project, a capital improvement initiative involving the removal and replacement of drinking water infrastructure across three school locations: 9562 East M-89, 7753 North 34th Street in Richland, and 315 Hutchinson Road in Battle Creek. The scope of work encompasses the installation of new Filter First legislation-compliant bottle fill stations, decommissioning of existing classroom bubblers, and associated minor architectural, electrical, and plumbing/mechanical modifications. Bidders must be qualified contractors capable of executing this infrastructure upgrade work in compliance with all applicable codes and regulations. Bid documents are available beginning May 4, 2026, from the architect and at three Builders Exchange locations in Kalamazoo, Grand Rapids, and Lansing. A voluntary pre-bid meeting and site tour will be conducted on May 7, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the Bedford Building in Battle Creek, providing prospective bidders the opportunity to review project details and site conditions. All sealed bids must be submitted by 2:30 p.m. local time on May 21, 2026, at which point they will be publicly opened and read aloud.
Bidders are required to submit a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder and school board members or the superintendent, as mandated by Michigan P.A. 232 of 2004; bids lacking this disclosure will be deemed non-responsive and rejected. Bid security equal to 5 percent of the bid amount must be provided in the form of a surety bond, certified check, or cashier's check, and the successful bidder will be required to furnish both Performance and Payment bonds. All work must comply with prevailing wage rate requirements as applicable in Michigan. Bids are not subject to withdrawal for 60 days following submission, and the Owner reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids at its discretion. No specific incumbent vendors, set-asides for disadvantaged enterprises, or budget ranges are identified in the procurement documents.
