About this opportunity

Greenville County is seeking sealed bids for a one-time purchase of two autonomous athletic field marking robots through RFP #25043, issued by the county's Procurement Services Division. The primary objectives are to improve staff efficiency, minimize manual labor, and maximize field marking accuracy across multiple sports venues. The robots must meet stringent technical specifications, including a weatherproof design, ability to mark various sports fields, independent operation, functionality on different surfaces, and a minimum working radius of 1,000 feet. Vendor proposals will be evaluated across eight equally weighted criteria: responsiveness, cost, equipment specifications, performance standards, technical specifications, service standards, delivery date, and references. Key procurement dates include a question submission deadline of December 5, 2024, proposal submission deadline of December 13, 2024 at 3:00 pm, anticipated award date of December 18, 2024, and purchase order issuance on December 19, 2024. The robots are expected to have a rechargeable battery lasting at least 4 hours with fast-charging capabilities and must include a comprehensive 5-year maintenance plan.

The county encourages participation from Minority-Owned Business Enterprises (MBE) and Woman-Owned Business Enterprises (WBE), expressing a preference for vendors who can demonstrate such certifications. Vendors must provide at least three references, with a particular preference for references from South Carolina governmental entities. While a specific budget range is not explicitly stated, the procurement is structured as a one-time purchase agreement for two robotic units. The solicitation does not indicate restrictions on vendor size or type beyond the standard government procurement qualifications. Vendors will need to submit a Substitute Form W-9 (as included in the attached documentation) to facilitate payment processing, which requires detailed taxpayer and business information. The county's approach suggests an openness to innovative technology solutions that can demonstrate superior performance, efficiency, and long-term value in athletic field maintenance.
