About this opportunity

The State of Maine Division of Purchases is requesting quotes for a fiberglass composite service body with canopy, with quotes due August 21, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. local time.

The scope is a fully integrated heavy-duty utility body with canopy mounted on a 2013 GMC Sierra 3500HD pickup (6.6-liter diesel, 4x4, regular cab, 13,200 GVWR). The body measures 132 inches long by 94 inches wide with 42-inch cabinet height and 58-inch interior canopy height. The structure includes a steel underframe, 3/16-inch aluminum floor with recessed tie-downs, and a fiberglass composite canopy roof. Interior configuration requires a solid-fiberglass bulkhead 7 feet forward of double rear doors, multiple compartments on both sides with a 60-inch personnel access door on the curb side, slide-out tool trays, and shelving rated for 250-pound capacity with twenty dividers. Electrical systems include dome lights, FMVSS-compliant lighting package with quick-connect harness, LED tail and backup lights, and a seven-way RV-style trailer connector. Exterior finish must match GM code 9W3 Wheatland Yellow with white interior compartments. Additional equipment includes a galvanized Sure Step bumper, Class IV trailer hitch (10,000-pound capacity), fuel and DEF fill cones, flow-through ventilation with compartment drains, wheel chock holders, and backup alarm. All electrical connections must use heat shrink seals and heavy-duty wire loom, with no Scotch-Lok connectors. Installation and return of the completed vehicle from the vendor's Augusta location to Maine are included in the bid.

The State reserves the right to award on an individual item or group basis, reject any or all quotes, waive technicalities, adjust quantities by up to 10%, and resolve ties by preference for in-state bidders or Maine-manufactured products. Unit prices must be submitted; only discounts of 20 days or longer are considered in award evaluation. Transportation is the contractor's responsibility unless specified otherwise.
