About this opportunity
The State of Maine Division of Purchases is soliciting bids for a fiberglass composite or aluminum service body with liftgate, due July 24, 2012. In case of tie bids, the state favors in-state bidders or those offering commodities produced or manufactured in Maine.
The scope is a heavy-duty utility body to be installed on a 2013 GMC Sierra 3500HD pickup truck, with dimensions of 132 inches in length, 94 inches in width, and 42 inches in height. The body must feature a steel understructure with 3/16-inch aluminum floor, galvanized E-track system with recessed floor tie downs, stainless steel hardware, and multiple exterior compartments on both street and curb sides with slide-out tool trays and shelves rated for 250-pound capacity. A 1,500-pound galvanized liftgate with 56-inch by 26-inch aluminum platform and 5-inch tapered ramp is required, along with rope-style LED lighting with door-activated switches, FMVSS-compliant flush-mounted LED tail and backup lights, a Class IV drop receiver hitch rated for 10,000 pounds, backup alarm, seven-way RV-style trailer connector, wheel chock holders with two wheel chocks, and spare tire mount. Exterior paint must match GM code 9W3 Wheatland Yellow, with interior compartments finished in white. All electrical connections must be sealed with heat shrink and protected with heavy-duty wire loom without Scotch-Lok connectors.
Bidders must submit unit and total cost pricing with estimated delivery time. Installation at the agency's Augusta location is included in the bid price. Electronic submission closes at 2:00 p.m. local time on July 24, 2012. The state reserves the right to award on an individual item or group basis, whichever serves its best interest, and to reject any or all quotes. Awards will be made to the lowest responsible bidder offering best value, considering product quality, conformity to specifications, delivery date, and overall economy. Cash discounts of 20 days or longer will be considered; shorter discounts will not. The state is exempt from sales and use taxes. Bidders must confirm ability to accept check, EFT, and State of Maine procurement cards.
