About this opportunity
The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services, through the Florida Forest Service, is seeking sealed bids for the Feta Clearcut 25/26 Timber Sale located in Tate's Hell State Forest, Franklin County. The procurement involves the clearcutting of approximately 126 acres of 38-year-old planted sand pine, with an estimated harvest volume of 11,724 tons of pine pulpwood. The timber sale is a twelve-month contract, with all standing merchantable timber within the 126-acre parcel available for harvest. Sale boundaries are defined by roads, wetlands, or obvious timber type changes. Interested bidders must submit sealed proposals by September 4, 2025, with bid opening scheduled for 10:00 AM EDT at 865 Geddie Road, Tallahassee, FL 32304. Potential vendors can obtain complete bid information by contacting Tanner Copeland at (850) 697-0023. The Florida Forest Service reserves the right to reject any and all bids and to waive any irregularities in the received proposals.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions on bidder types were explicitly mentioned in the procurement documents. The sale appears to be open to standard timber harvesting and forestry businesses capable of executing a large-scale clearcutting operation. While no incumbent vendors were identified, the sale is associated with a specific geographic area within Tate's Hell State Forest. The estimated value of the timber harvest is approximately 11,724 tons of pine pulpwood, which suggests a significant commercial opportunity for qualified timber contractors. The procurement documents do not specify a precise budget range, but the scale of the project indicates a substantial potential contract value. Bidders should have demonstrable experience in timber harvesting, forest management, and the technical capabilities to successfully complete a 126-acre clearcutting project within the specified twelve-month contract period.
