About this opportunity

The City of Cambridge, on behalf of Cambridge Public Schools, is soliciting bids for elevator maintenance and repair services at various municipal locations, with bids due September 24, 2026 at 2:00 PM via the City's e-Procurement Portal. Bidders must hold DCAMM certification in the Elevators work category—a mandatory qualification filter. Questions are due September 10, 2026.

The scope encompasses bi-monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual preventative maintenance for elevators at multiple municipal buildings specified in the project appendix, along with repair services as required. The contract term is one year with two optional one-year renewal periods at the City's sole discretion, commencing within seven days of written Notice to Proceed.

The estimated project value is $2.04 million across all three years, with contract award based on Year One costs alone. Prevailing wage rates established by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts apply. The City requires compliance with the Cambridge Employment Plan, which mandates that at least 25 percent of worker hours be performed by Cambridge residents, 25 percent by minority persons, and 10 percent by women. The Living Wage Ordinance establishes a floor of $20.32 per hour as of March 1, 2026.

Bidders must submit a bid deposit of no less than five percent of bid value and furnish performance and payment bonds equal to 100 percent of the contract sum from a Massachusetts-licensed surety. Required bid documents include DCAMM certification forms, MBE forms, compliance certifications for OSHA training, CORI screening, wage theft prevention, and written information security policy affirmation. The City will award to the lowest responsible and eligible bidder within 30 business days of bid opening. Additional compliance obligations include adherence to the Truck Safety Ordinance and various Massachusetts employment, insurance, and worker-protection statutes.
