About this opportunity

Genesee Intermediate School District (GISD) is requesting lump-sum bids for two separate categories of construction work—EKLC Gym Wall Improvements and GCI Concrete Floor Refinishing—with bids due October 20, 2026 at 2:00 p.m. and a non-mandatory pre-bid meeting scheduled for October 8, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.

Prime contractors and all subcontractors must submit prevailing wage annual certifications or registrations through the Michigan Department of Labor and Economic Growth (LEO) with their bids, as required by amendments to prevailing wage laws effective April 2, 2025. This is a decision-flipping compliance requirement.

Each bid proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, cashier's check, or satisfactory Surety Bid Bond in an amount not less than 5% of the total bid price, payable to GISD. Bonds will be returned to all except the three lowest bidders within five days after bid opening, with remaining bonds returned promptly after contract execution or within sixty days if no award is made.

All bids must include a sworn and notarized statement disclosing any familial relationships between the bidder or employees and GISD School Board members, Administration, or Staff; bids lacking this disclosure statement will be rejected.

Bidders must submit an original and two copies of their bid to Britt Patterson, Director of Business Services, at the Erwin L. Davis Education Center, 2413 West Maple Ave., Flint, MI 48507-3493. Bidding documents are available beginning October 5, 2026, from ARC at 1009 W. Maple Road, Clawson, MI 48107, or by contacting Wakely Associates Inc. at 586-573-4100 or aduda@wakelyaia.com. Additional site visits can be arranged by contacting Director of Operations Jeff Jansen at (810) 275-3541 or jjansen@geneseeisd.org. Addendum No. 1 has been posted and modifies the original contract opportunity requirements and specifications; contractors must review it in conjunction with all original solicitation materials.
