This is a Design/Build construction procurement for the replacement of a 160-foot self-supporting communication tower located approximately 10 miles northeast of Durango in La Plata County at an elevation of 9,851 feet. The scope of work requires qualified construction vendors to design, supply, and erect the tower in full compliance with applicable laws, codes, and standards, including accommodation of 26 separate antenna and transmission line components operating at no more than 80 percent of full capacity. The tower design must meet specific environmental and structural criteria, including a basic wind speed of 110 miles per hour per ASCE 7-16 standards, a service wind speed of 60 miles per hour, ice thickness design of 0.25 inches, and Exposure Category C classification, with preliminary geotechnical specifications including a maximum allowable soil pressure of 3,000 PSF. Bidders must have been pre-qualified through a prior RFP process (2018000010), with only three pre-qualified tower vendors eligible to submit bids. Sealed bids required one original, two hard copies, and one digital copy on USB, submitted to the OIT Procurement and Vendor Services Office at 601 East 18th Avenue, Suite 150, Denver, Colorado 80203. Award will be made to the lowest responsive and responsible bid, with the contract term for a maximum of five years in one-year increments commencing upon the first order placement.
