About this opportunity
The Town of Wayne in Washington County, Wisconsin, is soliciting bids for a comprehensive dredging project of the Kohlsville Pond, with proposals due by September 15, 2025. The primary objective is to remove 4-6 feet of material from the pond bottom, with specific requirements for shoreline modification and environmental management. The project entails creating a 15-foot deep, 20-foot wide, and 20-foot long silting hole where the river enters the pond, widening the north and south shorelines with precise dimensional specifications. The north shoreline along Main Street must be expanded 12-14 feet, with a new configuration featuring a 2-foot lower elevation relative to the road, topped with 1 foot of Rip Rap and 1 foot of TB material. Dredged materials can be used to widen shorelines or deposited in the west point of the pond, with strict instructions to maintain channel accessibility. The town's preference is to refill the pond by fall 2026 or spring 2027, following prior drainage for bridge repairs.
No specific set-aside designations or restrictions for disadvantaged enterprises were explicitly mentioned in the contract opportunity description. The project does not indicate incumbent vendors or existing technological infrastructure requirements. While no precise budget range was provided, the complexity of the dredging and shoreline modification work suggests a substantial municipal infrastructure investment. Potential bidders should possess significant expertise in pond restoration, earthmoving, environmental management, and municipal infrastructure projects. The comprehensive nature of the work requires contractors with specialized equipment for dredging, material relocation, and precise shoreline reconstruction. Interested contractors will need to demonstrate technical capabilities in managing complex environmental modification projects within municipal jurisdictions, with particular attention to precise dimensional specifications and environmental conservation principles.

The Town of Wayne is accepting bids to dredge the Kohlsville pond. The pond is to be cleaned of material to the original bottom with the dredged material removed or used to widen the north and south shoreline. The shoreline along Main Street is to be widened no less than 12 feet but no more than 14 feet with Rip Rap being placed along the newly created slope. The new shoreline is to be 2 feet lower than the road and then 1 foot of Rip Rap and 1 foot of ¾ TB added on top of the dredged material. The south shoreline should not be widened more than 20 feet with any remaining material deposited in the west point of the pond but may not obstruct the channel to the back(west) pond or it can be hauled away if so desired. There is to be a silting hole dug where the river runs into the pond, it is to be 15 feet deep by 20 feet wide by 20 feet long. The pond was drained this spring for bridge repairs and the town would prefer to refill the pond by the fall of 2026 or spring of 2027. There is approximately 4 to 6 feet of material to be removed from the bottom of the pond.
