About this opportunity
The City of Salida is seeking sealed bids for the Downtown Intersection Improvements Project, a comprehensive infrastructure enhancement initiative located in Cheyenne County, Colorado. The procurement involves reconstruction of three intersections, including streetscape amenities, paving, and water distribution infrastructure improvements. Bidders must submit sealed proposals by December 4th, 2024, at 9:00 am to the Salida Public Works Department, with bids to be publicly read aloud and subsequently reviewed by the City Council. A mandatory pre-bid meeting is scheduled for November 21st, 2024, at 1:30 p.m., and prospective contractors can obtain contract documents through the Rocky Mountain E-Purchasing website. The project requires a 5% bid bond and performance and payment bonds equal to 100% of the bid price, with specific construction timeline requirements mandating project commencement no later than April 1st, 2025, and substantial completion by October 31st, 2025. All technical questions should be directed to David Lady via email, and the bid documents outline detailed specifications for various infrastructure elements including water mains, storm drains, street trees, and other streetscape features.
The contract appears open to all qualified contractors without specific set-aside designations or enterprise restrictions. Bidders will need to demonstrate technical capabilities for complex infrastructure work, including water distribution upgrades, pavement reconstruction, and streetscape enhancements. The project is tax-exempt, with the city providing a tax-exempt number for material purchases. While no specific budget range is explicitly stated, the comprehensive nature of the project—involving three intersection reconstructions, utility infrastructure, and streetscape amenities—suggests a significant municipal investment. The procurement process allows the City of Salida to reserve the right to refuse any and all bids, providing flexibility in vendor selection. Contractors interested in bidding must carefully review the detailed bid documents, which include extensive measurement and payment terms for over 40 distinct bid items, ranging from asphalt and concrete removal to installation of various street and utility infrastructure components.
