Bids exceeding $50,000 require a 5% surety bond; contracts estimated at $175,000 or greater require payment and performance bonds equal to 100% of the contract sum. Non-Minnesota contractors may face 8% withholding on cumulative payments exceeding $50,000 unless exemption is obtained from the Department of Revenue.
