About this opportunity

The Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) is seeking bids for the 2024-827 New Ulm Office Invasive Tree & Shrub Removal project located in Brown County. The procurement requires a contractor to provide labor, equipment, materials, and transportation to clear approximately 2,050 linear feet of fencerow, specifically removing all trees, shrubs, and stumps within a 25-foot wide area. The primary vegetation to be removed includes honeysuckle and white mulberry. Key qualifications for bidders include having completed at least one contract valued at $5,000 or more for similar tree removal work since April 1, 2019. The solicitation requires electronic submission through the Swift Portal by May 23, 2024, at 2:00 PM, with award criteria focused on selecting the lowest responsible vendor meeting all specifications and terms. Interested contractors can schedule a site visit by contacting Project Manager Nathan Mullendore at 507-233-1231. The project has a substantial completion deadline of June 21, 2024, with final completion expected by June 28, 2024.

The procurement includes potential preferences for certain vendor categories, specifically noting opportunities for veteran-owned small businesses, which may qualify for a 12% preference on the first $2,000,000 of the bid. Resident vendor status may also be considered in resolving tied low bids or applying reciprocal preferences. While no specific set-aside designations are explicitly highlighted, the solicitation indicates potential considerations for targeted groups, economically disadvantaged businesses, and veteran-owned enterprises. No specific budget range is detailed in the documents, but bidders are required to include all costs in their unit pricing, including labor, materials, tools, transportation, equipment, sales tax, and use tax. The DNR reserves the right to award items separately, by grouping, or by total, depending on what is most advantageous to the state. No construction trade work is permitted under this contract, and the state explicitly prohibits the use of asbestos-containing materials on the project site.
